Friends of Mount Sunapee

The Sunapee-Ragged-Kearsarge (SRK) Greenway Coalition is offering three winter hikes in January.   Be prepared with clothing layers, food, water and snowshoes. JAN. 16 (Sat) - Geocaching from Webster Pass to Dutchman Pond in Springfield. Bring a GPS unit, if you have one, or learn as you go, searching for 14 caches with Cynthia Bruss, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Followed with hot chocolate with the leaders, Susan and Michael Chiarella: 763-5879. 3 miles. (Easy). On JAN. 30 (Sat) - Cross-country ski to Morgan Pond from Twin Lake Villa in Springfield. Feb 6 (Sat)  - In Newbury on the Andrew Brook Trail to Jack and June Junction, then down the Newbury Trail to Lake Sunapee. Charlie Killam, 526-4467. 4.5 mi. (Difficult)

Feb 13 (Sat) - Explore hidden trails of King Hill in Sutton. Art Robbins: 927-4377. 4.5 mi. (Moderate)

Feb 20 (Sat) - A morning snowshoe to Clark Pond on New London’s newly constructed conservation trail. Call Ralph Spofford, 526-6568. 1.5 m. (Easy)

Feb 27 (Sat) - Sunapee Ridge from Lake Solitude to Lucia’s Lookout and unique views only dedicated trekkers get to see. Gerry Gold, 526-2857. 10 mi. (Difficult)

Feb 27 or 28 or Mar 1 - Full moon madness on the clearest night. Install fresh batteries in your headlamp and call leader Dave Cook, 526-4570, 5:30-6:30 p.m.  2 mi. (Moderate)

Mar 6 (Sat) - From Haynes Road in Newbury head for Sutton Mills on Poor Farm Rd. Bail out there, or continue up Corporation Hill Rd and loop through the new Johnson Easement to NH Route 114. Brent Scudder, 763-0187. 4-5 mi. (Moderate)
