On May 19 at 6:00pm at the Newbury Town Offices the Newbury Conservation Commission(NCC) will present its findings concerning the leakage at the septic treatment facility at Mount Sunapee Resort. A slideshow presented by NCC speakers will facilitate the event. A question and answer period will follow. The event is open to the public.
Approximately 2 yrs. ago the Newbury Conservation Commission along with the water director of the Town of Sunapee did a site review of the proposed parking lot project. During the course of this review members of the NCC noticed seepage from one of the septic lagoons which is directly adjacent to the proposed parking area and Beck Brook which outlets into Lake Sunapee.
The meeting will call attention to the deficiencies of the current waste water system and the potential threat of widespread contamination of Lake Sunapee.
