The Mount Sunapee Advisory Committee (MSAC) will meet on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the Newbury Town Offices, Newbury, NH. The meeting is open to the public.

The big news at Mount Sunapee

Vail Resorts announced (June 4, 2018) that Vail intends to acquire the ski area lease and operations at Mount Sunapee. The state-owned ski area at Mount Sunapee State Park encompasses more than 1,100 acres of public land. The Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) is responsible for state park management.

State officials say the lease transfer to Vail requires State approval.

Attorney General Gordon MacDonald and DNCR Commissioner Sarah Stewart said that they “will work with the parties to the transaction to obtain and review carefully all information necessary, prior to any approval.”

In a letter to Governor Sununu and the Executive Council, the Attorney General and Commissioner wrote that DNCR would hold at least one information session where “the public will have an opportunity to be heard and to ask questions.”

At this meeting, “parties to the transaction” will provide details about the proposal. DNCR expects to announce the date of the informational session within two weeks, an agency spokesperson said Monday.
